“ The pink pancakes were delicious! The rest of my breakfast was very good as well with excellent service from my server. Of note from an attempted second visit if you arrive within an hour of closing for breakfast they may not seat you if there is already a wait. I was able to sit outside and it was a beautiful view. ”

“ Expensive, iconic and what a view! The Surf Lanai is one of the restaurants affiliated with the historic Royal Hawaiian Hotel. The restaurant overlooks the beach and has hosted celebrities throughout the years. I had to try it. Finding the "front" entrance was challenging. People kept redirecting me. There was a 20 minute wait for a table, but no wait at the small bar, so there I was, at the bar. The tourists were sipping Mai Tais and talking golf. The bartender was quick to pour me a tall glass of water. I like sitting at the bar and listening to what's going on and seeing how the drinks are made. Bartenders generally give great service. I wanted something light for breakfast (that didn't involve açaí). I ordered the Gravlox bagel. At $28, I was hoping for something special. The bagel came out in about 10 minutes. Lox, lemon confit and fennel were artfully perched atop the bagel. Oodles of red onion, cappers and everything seasoning skirted the bagel. The lemon and thin sliced salmon were absolutely delicious. The fennel was a nice touch. The bartender was flexible with orders and bantered with customers. Both bartenders checked on me multiple times and asked if food was ok. I had a great experience. It's expensive, even the kids menu. But it's a breathtaking view and the food is tasty and artful. ”

“ We were staying at the Hotel and we are Bonvoy Elite members and received free continental breakfast. The Continental breakfast is way better than at the Sheraton next door. The lines can be long to get in, but we were able to get a table everyday in around 12 minutes. Just plan accordingly and bring a computer or book as you wait. While we were staying here that last day of our stay, the hotel employees went on strike. Breakfast was being served with self serve and the employees that were working were better than the normal employees .. except John. Service: Our first day we had John as our server for breakfast and what a wonderful hard working employee. He was a treat and we looked forwarding to see him again, but we only saw his once on our visit. The second day we had another man, I did not get his name he was very hard working as well but not as friendly. If you get John, he is a delight. The ladies at the front are lethargic. I think there are too many ladies wearing Hawaiian dresses standing around and taking you to the tables and not enough employees taking orders and serving. Food: The coffee is excellent and a must. The Continental breakfast was yogurt, fruit, granola and small bites of pastries. The yogurt is top notch and the fruit is very fresh. It was not enough protein, but for a free Continental breakfast, I enjoyed it. ”

“ The views are just stunning. You really can't beat it! It's especially perfect when you just take a few steps from your rented beach chairs. The food was pretty basic and everything was lukewarm. None of the dishes were very memorable but we came here for the experience. When staying at the Royal Hawaiian you really just have to experience everything at least once. Service was good and our server was friendly and full of jokes. I'm not sure that we would come back but there are no regrets! ”

“ Had breakfast had three times while visiting the Royal Hawaiian hotel. The view is amazing. Coffey is good. The juice is fresh. The pink pancakes are amazing. Service can be a little difficult wise. Several of the servers do not speak fluent English so our order was not correct a couple of times just purely because of communication, and understanding of what we were trying to order. But overall, the servers did try and were helpful and replacing items that were incorrect. I mainly eat lunch here. They have great lunch items one being my favorite worth the chicken wings, and Parmesan fries. Food 5/5 Location 5/5 Atmosphere 5/5 Service 3/5 Return Factor 4/5 ”

“ Love food here as always. This time on the day we leave Hawaii, we came here for breakfast. Had pink pancakes. I know eggs Benedict is the most popular but we had several times in the past. The waitresses and waiters are more elder people so our waitress was a bit slow and I think she has a bit hearing problem. She wasn't much attention at the beginning for us. Anyway the view is great and food was awesome. I also love their coffee. ”

“ The first time that I went to Hawaii was in 2009. I stayed in The Royal Hawaiian and got breakfast included from surf lanai. Years later around 2017 I believe surf lanai had a breakfast buffet that was pretty good but they no longer offer it. This year I only spent one night at The Royal Hawaiian and I got breakfast at Surf Lanai again. I got the short rib eggs Benedict and my kids each got a kids pink palace pancakes. The food was really good and my son even loved the egg and sauce from my plate as I traded him one for one pancake. The sausage was also really good. It is so convienent if you are staying on site as you just go downstairs and it is basically on the beach so you get awesome views. ”
